When Masaaki-sama saw the rice ball friends bento, he apparently told Mami-okusama that it looked like food of angels. I imagine that he expressed it this way because of the adorable size and appearance of the rice ball friends 🍙 floating gently atop the rice that was spread out like clouds. Mami-okusama shared with us the thought she put into the bento. She said, “I wished for my children to enjoy their lunchtime with the smiling rice ball friends.” I heard that the children were overjoyed, saying, “It was so cute and delicious!” I was shocked when one of the children said, “Mom, you're a genius!” to Mami-okusama for using perilla seeds for the nose of the rice ball friends. I am embarrassed to admit I was not able to figure out what the nose was made out of 💦 I was amazed that Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama’s children are more knowledgeable about traditional Japanese ingredients than the average adult! The children’s friends who saw the bento apparently exclaimed in unison, “So cute!” Perhaps by seeing Mami-okusama’s super cute vegan bento every day, their friends are also naturally learning about the seasonal periods of vegetables and feeling the seasons. 【Bento Menu】*30 percent polished rice cooked in a clay pot (250g) 🍚The rice was spread in the bottom of the bento box, and three triangular rice balls were made. To design the rice ball friends, black sesame seeds were used for the eyes, perilla seeds for the nose, and nori for the mouth, and homemade pickled plums matured for three years were placed on their cheeks.*Lotus root with sesame misoRecently posted on Instagram*Wakegi (Japanese green onion) dressed with nori seaweedIn place of the hijiki in the “green onion and hijiki soy sauce sauté,” which we previously shared on Instagram, nori torn by hand was mixed in.
