Have you ever wondered what kind of bento box Mami-okusama prepares for her children? I’ve been curious! Actually, I've been curious about this for quite some time, to be honest. And now, I have been blessed with the opportunity to find out about Mami-okusama’s bento box. As you may know, we recently made a post about Mami-okusama’s steamed taro iwai-ni recipe. Mami-okusama told us, “I also put this taro dish in my children’s bento boxes,” and she kindly sent us a photo. The photo of the bento box we received was so adorable that I could not help but exclaim, “Too cute!!” When I asked, “Do you always prepare bento boxes like these?” Mami-okusama replied with a shy “Yes.” How foolish of me to think even for a moment that she might have made a special one just for this occasion! How disrespectful of me. How embarrassing. To make such wonderful bento boxes every day for her children! I felt I had caught a glimpse of Mami-okusama’s efforts that far exceeded my imagination. It is truly amazing... I would like to share a message from Mami-okusama along with a menu of the foods that were in the bento box below. ****** “The steamed taro iwai-ni, if left to rest overnight, deepens in flavor, making it perfect to put in the next day’s bento box. Here is a photo of it in my children’s actual bento boxes. The children always look forward to their lunch, saying, ‘I wonder what’s in today’s bento box?’ They always finish everything and come home with empty boxes, which makes me truly happy. On this particular bento day, when the children came home, they said, ‘Two-per yummy!!!’ One ‘Super yummy’ wasn't enough, so they combined ‘two’ and ‘super’ to create their own word, ‘two-per yummy.’ It seems to be their way of expressing the highest level of deliciousness. Let me also share a menu of the food that was in the bento box. Of course, everything listed is vegan.” 🍴Bento Menu🍴❤30 percent polished rice (approximately 200g)This is the amount used for this particular bento box, but the children sometimes eat 1 go (approximately 350g) of rice per meal with small portions of side dishes. They also eat plenty of rice for breakfast and dinner. I adjust the side dishes to just the right flavor and amount for the children and come up with ways to make the rice more appealing. (The key is to have small portions of side dishes.)❤Steamed taro iwai-ni❤Steamed pumpkinSteamed without any water, only using a clay pot and salt.❤Kinpira (a traditional Japanese dish consisting of thinly sliced vegetables sautéed in soy sauce with sesame) of daikon radish and wood ear mushroom❤Daikon radish leaf stewDaikon radish leaves are extremely nutritious, and during its season, I make a stew that becomes a staple side dish in our home. I use not only daikon but also turnip leaves. The children call this dish the “green one,” and they mix it with their rice to make vegetable rice, stuffing their mouths full. It is wasteful to throw away daikon leaves!🌟Bear & Frog Design🐻 🐸To make them look like a bear and a frog, I use homemade pickled plums matured for three years (25% salt content), nori seaweed, and freshly roasted sesame seeds on the rice, and green beans for their hands. Masaaki-sama said, “Not only is it visually fun, but these ingredients are packed with nutrition, which is wonderful.” ****** “Two-per yummy!!!” These words from the children perfectly express the supreme deliciousness of Mami-okusama’s bento. How wonderful it would be to eat such amazing bento every day! I envy the children! Especially as someone who has children, I am simply filled with gratitude to Mami-okusama for sharing with us this ideal ultimate vegan bento that contains no animal products and provides proper nutrition centered around rice. I can’t help but feel how blessed we members of World Church of Messiah are to be able to learn about the true food that we should eat. If children eat bento like these, they too can learn about true food and have truly healthy bodies free from illness. This is true food education—food education for humanity by Masaaki-sama. We must share this with people who do not know Masaaki-sama’s vegan diet and with people in the world who are having a hard time making bento boxes. Let us create a movement centered around Masaaki-sama and spread it throughout the world, conveying the true salvation and true food to the people in front of us and around us!
