On November 4, Masaaki-sama was interviewed by the reporting team on a beach in Rio de Janeiro. The waves relentlessly surged past both the left and right sides of Masaaki-sama’s chair, and as we staff members got increasingly wet, not a single wave reached Masaaki-sama’s spot—he did not get wet at all. Everyone present was baffled by this extraordinary occurrence. And gradually, we became filled with a feeling akin to awe—realizing that this was indeed a miracle, that Masaaki-sama was truly no ordinary person. Readers may think we are exaggerating or that such a thing couldn’t happen, but it was an undeniable fact, a shocking fact—no, a miracle. When I excitedly told Masaaki-sama, “This is truly a work of God,” he replied, “I myself had the mysterious conviction that the waves would absolutely not reach me during the interview. Even though there were many warnings that ‘the waves are coming!’ I was confident that it would be fine, that the waves would not touch me.” Indeed, though the interview location was repeatedly overtaken by waves and we frantically fled from them, Masaaki-sama alone remained calmly seated in his chair from beginning to end. What was even more astonishing was that the very moment Masaaki-sama finished the interview and moved to another location, large waves surged over the spot where he had been sitting, flooding the surrounding area. One can only conclude that the waves themselves were honoring Masaaki-sama, who is one with God, and yielding in his presence. The sea, nature, all creation were praising Masaaki-sama.
