In April, the Sacred Ground of Water in Brazil held two spiritual retreats (April 19–20 and April 25–26) and also welcomed many day visitors. A total of 151 people visited the sacred ground (124 members and 27 non-members who attend church). Keeping in their hearts Masaaki-sama's sacred guidance—that water is the blood of atonement of Jesus Christ, and that its healing power is manifested through accepting the blood Jesus shed on the cross—participants engaged in cleaning the sacred ground and preparing vegan meals. In the garden, all participants actively worked with the soil, planting seedlings of chili peppers, parsley, and mandioquinha (a sweet root vegetable), and sowing onion, beet, and cucumber seeds. They also tended the beds, removed weeds, watered the plants, and prepared new garden beds. The harvest was plentiful and varied, including corn, cucumber, green beans, pumpkin, okra, banana, acerola, lemon, orange, persimmon, and melon. The faces of those who held the vegetables and fruits nurtured in this sacred ground—filled with the breath of Kyoshu-sama and Masaaki-sama—were lit with a joy welling up from the depths of their hearts. All of the harvest was used in the participants’ meals, and everyone delighted together in the Christian Vegan Diet established and advocated by Masaaki-sama, feeling nourished in both body and soul. One non-member Christian who participated in the spiritual retreat shared how, through the continued practice of surrendering and breathing, they experienced a profound stirring within themselves. As those emotions settled, they felt a sense of peace and found their doubts gradually resolved. Another non-member, who had been carrying many burdens alone in daily life and was close to being crushed by the weight of responsibility, spoke powerfully of how, by turning to God and surrendering at the Sacred Ground of Water, they were freed from years of suffering and discovered new meaning in life. The number of people coming to the Sacred Ground of Water in search of healing will surely continue to grow.
