The vegetable flowers blooming from the bento box and the bouquet being held out by Snoopy make us feel that spring is approaching. For the first time this year, rapeseed blossoms were given as an offering to Masaaki-sama, and Mami-okusama thought, “Right away, for Masaaki-sama!” and boiled them with salt to bring out the natural flavor of the ingredients. Masaaki-sama was apparently very pleased. Mami-okusama wanted to include the taste of spring into her children’s bento as well. She arranged the rapeseed blossoms to look like a bouquet 🌷 Snoopy is holding out the bouquet as if he is saying “I love you!” on behalf of Mami-okusama. If you look closely, the buds in the bouquet are actual rapeseed blossom buds. As always, hats off to Mami-okusama’s stylish presentation. The contrast between the fresh, youthful green of the rapeseed blossoms and the colors of the flower-shaped vegetables is so vivid. Our hearts are filled with excitement at the breath of spring! The simmered hijiki seaweed, which enhances the colors of the flowers while adding balance to the bento, is made with natural wild hijiki that was also an offering from a member. This is Mami-okusama’s love and devotion, as she cooked it as soon as it arrived for Masaaki-sama, who is known for his “seaweed LOVE.” ✨ The children who ate the bento were of course delighted by Snoopy’s cuteness, and commented that the simmered hijiki was especially delicious. This may be one of the specialty dishes of Mami-okusama who has shared many original recipes using seaweed. I can relate to the teacher who happened to pass by when the bento was opened and couldn’t help but say, "Ohhhh, Snoopy! So cute!" 🩷 However, the true value of Mami-okusama’s bento is not just in its cute appearance. I believe the most important thing we should learn from her bento is that they are composed of Japanese vegan dishes with rice serving as the backbone. 【Bento Menu】*30 percent polished rice cooked in a clay pot (200g) 🍚The rice was shaped into Snoopy, and the remaining rice was layered at the bottom of the bento box.
