On the 9th local time, Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama completed their entire missionary schedule and made their way to Lisbon Airport. President Fernando and his wife; from the UK, President Eduardo and his wife; and members gathered to see them off, repeatedly expressing their endless and deep gratitude to Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama. Finally, Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama hugged each person one by one and exchanged firm handshakes. ＊＊＊＊＊＊ An amazing incident occurred at Lisbon Airport as well. When Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama were selecting souvenirs and the secretary went to make payment, the shop clerk, pointing toward Masaaki-sama, said to the secretary, “I’ve seen that gentleman somewhere before. He seems like a very nice person. Who is he?” The secretary immediately replied, “That is Masaaki-sama, the next leader of our Church,” while handing over a leaflet. As soon as the clerk saw the leaflet, he said to the secretary, “World Church of Messiah—I know it! That’s right. I saw this person (Masaaki-sama) before on social media. That’s why I thought I’d seen him before.” When I, the reporter, heard this story from Masaaki-sama’s secretary, I was of course moved by the tremendous and undeniable power of Masaaki-sama’s aura. But at the same time, I realized that when we actively “like,” “comment” and “save” on the Church’s Instagram posts every day, this truly is missionary work for World Church of Messiah. Through our steady efforts, World Church of Messiah is reaching many people; what we do in Japan is reaching members of the general public in Portugal, located at the western edge of Europe. I was made aware that we must never underestimate social media, and it made me realize how vitally important it is to continue actively engaging with “likes,” “comments” and “saves,” and to share the Church’s Instagram page and other social media platforms with many people—I strongly felt the weight of our responsibility. ＊＊＊＊＊＊ Here is another episode I heard from Masaaki-sama himself: On the flight from Japan to Portugal, when Masaaki-sama was talking with a flight attendant about vegan food, the flight attendant said, “I’m from the UK, and my parents were vegan, so I was raised on vegan food from birth for a long time.” As the conversation continued, the flight attendant said, “Actually, the pilot on this flight is also vegan. The vegan menu he requested is delicious, but unfortunately there’s only one, so I can’t offer it to you (Masaaki-sama).” So the pilot flying the plane carrying Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama from Japan to Portugal was vegan! What an episode, what a story! No, this is not a story—rather, this is inevitable. It was divine will that the pilot navigating Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama’s journey in the air was vegan. And we must not forget this fact: wherever Masaaki-sama goes, it is his natural posture to talk with ordinary people about veganism and other topics. Without this, we would never have known about this episode. I am reminded of the Sacred Word from last month’s Birth of the Messiah Service, when Masaaki-sama said near the end, “You should not underestimate the vegan diet.” Indeed, Europe, the world, is moving forward more and more. Meishu-sama’s Sacred Word that “In the world of Miroku, humanity will follow a vegan diet” is already about “now.” We who are Meishu-sama’s followers have no excuse to fall behind. If we continue to make excuses like “this or that makes it difficult,” or “occasionally is fine, right?” or “what about my family,” and don't leap into the world of Miroku, we can never become true followers of Meishu-sama nor will we be able to take part in the construction of an ideal world. We must decide to “do it” and “do it no matter what.” Only when we decide does the path open up. As long as we remain half-hearted, Meishu-sama will never bless us with the path of joy. Hearing about Masaaki-sama’s episode during the flight, I, the reporter, could not stop these feelings from bubbling up within me. ＊＊＊＊＊＊ All the members who came to see them off, while showing expressions of reluctance to part, were filled with firm determination and resolve. In the hearts of the European and Portuguese members who were directly entrusted with the only truth by Masaaki-sama, the flame of missionary work is now burning brightly. Let us Japanese members also unite under Masaaki-sama’s leadership and courageously press forward in even greater divine work of spreading the gospel!
