The service opened with the “Hallelujah” Chorus and the “Sanctus” from Fauré’s Requiem. At the rehearsal held the day before the service, Masaaki-sama said of the “Sanctus”: “This is Fauré’s genius melody.” Young and old alike, the members representing us marked the start of this glorious Birth of the Messiah Service. Then, for the first time in the history of our Church, Kyoshu-sama and Masaaki-sama entered the altar area together. Kyoshu-sama and Masaaki-sama. From Kyoshu-sama to Masaaki-sama. How unshakeable, how powerful the central pillars of our Church are, striking us with overwhelming force that needs no explanation. Next was Masaaki-sama’s Sacred Word and his thunderous announcement that he is writing a general-audience book tentatively titled Living as a Christian Vegan. And with his characteristic playfulness, Masaaki-sama added, “So it’s a secret that I’m writing a book right now.” The Nobel Prize, rice planting, blood sugar levels, the Church purification, Jesus, the Jewish people, Nazi Germany, Christian veganism, vaccines—and more. The great miracle of this wide-range of themes converging into a single address is something that simply cannot be grasped unless you experience it live. It is just extraordinary. It is, without exaggeration, “The Miracle That is Masaaki-sama.” From start to finish, one is thoroughly overwhelmed by the weight and force of his presence. He used the words “a straightforward way of living” toward the end of his talk, which is scheduled to be published on YouTube in Japanese. And then the world’s first Christian vegan song, “The Final Sacrifice,” and the world’s first Christ Farming song, “Rice Ears of Prayer.” I don’t know what it is, but something is happening without a doubt—a great revolution of some kind. We cannot afford to look away. I strongly feel that we must convey to as many people as possible the existence of Masaaki-sama, who keeps his eyes fixed solely on God at all times and reveals God’s truth at the risk of his own life. Regardless of how much we are ignored, no matter how muddy we get, it is my firm belief that, for the salvation of all humanity, we must put out the existence of Masaaki-sama into the world, no matter what. Let us all join hands and leap into Masaaki-sama’s presence!
