Masaaki-sama’s Sacred Word To those wanting to emulate Mami, I sincerely thank you for your wish to do so. That said, it’s okay if your bento is lousy looking. It’s okay if you can’t make it like hers. Rather than appearance, place the most importance on the content. The reason why Mami makes these kinds of bento is for the health of our children. This is something I don’t want you to misunderstand. For this bento and the ones until now, copy the ingredients that Mami used and how she prepared the ingredients—these are what I’d like you to emulate. Please study these things. What is she using? What is she not using? I believe these are the important points. What is not being used—this is key. That is why Mami shares the details of the bento’s content. We are not trying to spread beautifully made bento or lunch boxes. It’s the content of the meal. This is about health. This is about a world absolutely free from disease, poverty and conflict. This is about Meishu-sama’s will. Let’s do this together. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ My posture straightens in response to Masaaki-sama’s Sacred Word. In his Sacred Word at last year’s Harvest Thanksgiving Service, Masaaki-sama said, “Not all vegan food is created equal.” It is not: “It’s fine if it’s vegan.” It is the cuisine that Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama eat that is the true vegan diet for the Japanese people. I cannot help but think the bento content itself that Mami-okusama shares with us is the light of salvation. This time’s bento is truly filled with all kinds of seaweed. Wakame rice, aonori (green nori flakes) rice, and hijiki (thin black seaweed) rice. Each of the three tulip rice rolls of different colors have plenty of seaweed incorporated into them. Their child came home deeply impressed, and it seemed that their teacher and friends chimed in with cheer! Every day, with anticipation and excitement, Mami-okusama thinks about what kind of bento she should make. She said that there is no greater happiness for her than to make bento for her children. Let’s practice to the utmost the salvation of Christian veganism that Masaaki-sama is showing us! Bento contents, from Mami-okusama*30 percent polished rice cooked in a clay pot (230g) 🍚The tulip rice rolls of different colors are wrapped in nori and abundantly incorporate seaweed. The tulips’ expressions are made with nori, and their cheeks are adorned with daikon radish pickled in homemade ume plum vinegar to create a charming finish.· Orange tulip: made with wakame rice, using precious natural dried wakame gifted from World Church of Messiah Korea’s President Yun. The wakame was lightly toasted over the heat at a distance, ground in a mortar to a furikake-like texture (furikake is a dry Japanese seasoning sprinkled on rice), and mixed in together with freshly toasted sesame seeds. The orange tulip is made of salt-boiled carrot. Seasonal Japanese mustard greens offered by a Church member were used to represent the leaves.· White tulip: made with aonori (green nori flakes) rice. Generously mixed with aonori and freshly toasted sesame seeds. Made into a cute white tulip with salt-boiled daikon and mustard greens.· Yellow tulip: made with hijiki (thin black seaweed) rice. Simmered hijiki was mixed in together with freshly toasted sesame seeds. Made into a yellow tulip using takuan (yellow picked radish) and mustard greens, both offered by a Church member. *Miso soup *Japanese taro with miso sauceFluffy steamed taro, skin on, with homemade sesame miso sauce. *Mustard greens with sesame ponzu (citrus-based soy sauce)A dish where you can feel the breath of spring in the subtle bitterness. *Field mustard mochiA gentle spring flavor finished with a soft, chewy texture using kudzu powder (a traditional Japanese starch made from kudzu root, often used as a thickener). *ButterfliesButterflies, large and small, were made using daikon pickled in ume plum vinegar, takuan, and salt-boiled carrots, adding a lovely splash of color. Oh, every flower is beautiful! 🎵Mami-okusama’s super cute vegan bento, No. 32Likes, saves and shares are most welcome! ✨ ***About Mami-okusama (Mami Okada)Mami-okusama was born in Aichi Prefecture and was raised in a farming household. Also known as Japan’s Vegan Beauty, she is the wife of and Aide to Masaaki-sama (Masaaki Okada), World Church of Messiah’s Representative of Kyoshu. She is a vegan recipe developer focusing on the Japanese vegan diet. She is the first to establish the “vegan deco ben” (vegan decorative bento) and “vegan kyara ben” (vegan character bento) genres. Not only are they beautiful to the eye, these bento are created entirely from plant-based ingredients, in line with what Masaaki-sama teaches on the truth of food, that seasonal and local eating rooted in the climate and terrain of Japan is the most beneficial for health and well-being, that is, to eat what grows in one’s local region. Through these and also through the creation of her many original recipes, she seeks to spread the Christian vegan diet—the true healthy diet. She graduated from University of Tsukuba. During her studies there, she became actively involved in volunteer activities such as refugee support. She was also repeatedly asked to participate in the Miss Tsukuba Contest and was approached by many modeling agencies, but she declined all of these offers as she wanted to focus on refugee support activities. In recognition of her efforts in refugee support, she received the University of Tsukuba President’s Award in 2012. She holds a license to teach English to intermediate and high school students. After graduating from university, she began working for World Church of Messiah in 2013. In 2014, she married Masaaki-sama, the great-grandson of the founder of World Church of Messiah, Meishu-sama (Mokichi Okada 1882–1955), and the representative and successor of Kyoshu-sama. On May 24, 2026, on the day of Pentecost, she assumed the position of Aide to the Representative of Kyoshu. Currently, while raising three children, she is working tirelessly unlike anyone else in the practice and spread of the Christian vegan diet as taught in Masaaki-sama’s revolutionary message: “Jesus Christ was the last and ultimate sacrifice—so it is no longer necessary to eat a diet that comes with the suffering of animals.”
