In addition to the members of Angola, pilgrimage groups from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Japan, Brazil, Portugal, South Korea and the United States came together. An astounding number of over 20,000 members from around the world—surpassing last year’s attendance—gathered under Masaaki-sama. Before the service, the road from the entrance of the sacred ground to the worship area, which is several hundred meters long, was filled with participants, forming a long line. Many members were singing songs praising Kyoshu-sama and Masaaki-sama while dancing as they walked toward the venue. When Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama arrived and stepped out of their car, there was a loud cheer! Masaaki-sama was wearing a shirt and Mami-okusama was wearing a skirt and scarf, which were all matching with traditional patterns of Angola. When we humbly asked Masaaki-sama, he explained that because he wanted to bring joy to the members of Africa, for this missionary visit to Angola, he had researched African fashion and had the garments custom-made using fabric that had been presented by members of Africa several years ago. How deeply caring is the heart of Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama, who are always thinking of the members of Africa! I could not help but feel that their appearance on this day symbolized their deep love for the members of Africa.
