90% rice! ✨Mami-okusama’s Sumikko Gurashi* bento #1 *Sumikko Gurashi (literally “living in corners”) is a popular Japanese character series featuring shy, adorable creatures who prefer cozy corners and quiet spaces. The moment you open the bento box, the adorable round eyes of the Sumikko Gurashi characters will surely steal your heart! Even the Sumikko Gurashi characters who usually feel most comfortable in the corner are gathered in the center of the bento box today. The characters are made with such an incredibly high level of detail that the moment I saw it, I said, “It’s that character!” “It’s holding its best friend Furoshiki!” and “These rice balls are the best!” My excitement was through the roof (lol). The heart-shaped vegetables decorating the Sumikko Gurashi characters and the daikon radish leaves on the sides give the bento such a cozy feel. When I first heard that the bento is 90% rice, what I immediately imagined was a Hinomaru bento (a bento named after the flag of Japan) with Mami-okusama’s homemade pickled plums matured for three years beautifully placed in the center… Please forgive my terrible lack of imagination that does not even come close to Mami-okusama’s brilliance💦 Take a look at this! With Mami-okusama’s skills, a bento with rice as the main component becomes this adorable and can express the heartwarming world of Sumikko Gurashi❤ I heard that Mei-sama, her eldest daughter, was absolutely delighted with this bento featuring her favorite Sumikko characters, saying “It was so cute!” With this bento, not only can we eat plenty of rice, but we can also satisfy our eyes, our heart, and our stomach. Let us follow Mami-okusama’s example and enjoy a blissful lunchtime with this Sumikko Gurashi bento ✨✨✨ 【Bento Menu】*30 percent polished rice cooked in a clay pot (200g) 🍚The characters and motifs from Sumikko Gurashi were designed using rice and nori (Shirokuma, Furoshiki, and Onigiri).Shirokuma’s ears were made with homemade pickled red ginger.Furoshiki was made with pickled red ginger and nori.*Simmered daikon leafA generous layer placed underneath the rice.*Dumpling made with sweet potato and wood ear mushroomDesigned as Ebifurai No Shippo (a Sumikko Gurashi character).*Heart decorations ❤Made with boiled carrots and daikon radish.
