The main subject of all the musical performances at the Christmas Service was Jesus Christ, with the lyrics written or translated by Masaaki-sama. After receiving Masaaki-sama’s Sacred Word, The Messiah Choir delivered stirring performances: one hundred members of the general division sang “O Holy Night” with lyrics translated by Masaaki-sama, and ninety members of the youth division sang “Least I Can Do,” also with lyrics translated by Masaaki-sama, in layered harmonies. At the end, the men’s vocal group performed a new original song with lyrics written by Masaaki-sama, “Because You Are Here.” The service came to a close while enveloped in the lingering sound of the performance. Through the lyrics that are themselves Masaaki-sama’s Sacred Word, “Because You Are Here” allowed us to contemplate that the happiness we experience in our lives now is permitted only because of Jesus Christ’s atonement.
