In order to realize a truly sustainable society, World Church of Messiah (Kyoshu/spiritual leader: Yoichi Okada. Representative of Kyoshu: Masaaki Okada. President: Keiichiro Narii.)—hereinafter “the Church”—has resolved to practice and promote the Christian Vegan Diet and Christ Farming, based on the philosophy of Christian Veganism established and advocated by Representative of Kyoshu, Masaaki Okada, as a comprehensive solution to challenges related to matters like the environment, climate and water; hunger and food self-sufficiency; and conflicts that modern society faces. This will be carried out both domestically and through affiliated organizations in countries around the world.Right: Masaaki Okada, Representative of KyoshuLeft: Mami Okada, wife and Aide to the Representative of KyoshuWhat is Christian Veganism?Christian Veganism is a philosophy first established and advocated by Masaaki Okada on September 8, 2024. Since ancient times, humanity has developed cultures in which the blood and flesh of animals were offered to God for the atonement of sins, and a portion of those offerings was consumed. However, when Christ Jesus offered himself as the final sacrifice 2,000 years ago, humanity was freed not only from the need to offer animal blood and flesh to God, but also from the need to consume them—rendering all activities, undertakings, ways of life and human endeavors involving the suffering, sacrifice, and exploitation of animals unnecessary. Christian Veganism is thus a way of life grounded in the belief that Christ Jesus was the last sacrifice. In practical terms, it means excluding all animal-derived products and services from every aspect of life, including food, clothing, and shelter. What is the Christian Vegan Diet? The Christian Vegan Diet established and advocated by Masaaki Okada refers to a diet based on the belief that “Christ Jesus was the last and ultimate sacrifice—so it is no longer necessary to eat a diet that comes with the suffering of animals.” It follows the principle of shindo fuji (that seasonal eating rooted in the local climate and terrain is most beneficial for health and well-being), with grains as the staple and incorporating seaweed and seasonal vegetables that come from the local region. In Japan, the diet consists of a simple traditional Japanese meal (ichiju issai or rice, miso soup and one side dish) with semi-polished rice cooked in a clay pot as the staple and miso soup with seaweed and seasonal vegetables. As with vegans, we do not eat meat, seafood, eggs, dairy products, honey, white sugar, gelatin or anything else containing animal-derived ingredients or produced through the exploitation of animals. What is Christ Farming?Christ Farming is a farming method first established and advocated by Masaaki Okada on December 1, 2025, and built upon the Nature Farming method originally founded by Mokichi Okada in the 1930s. Specifically, Christ Farming is defined as any farming method that meets the following three conditions:Those employing this farming method practice the aforementioned Christian Vegan Diet.Food is grown without pesticides, fertilizers, excrement or urine of any kind, or EM (Effective Microorganisms), and uses no animal-derived materials. Compost consists only of fallen, dried leaves and the like. The land used has been blessed with the Christ Farming Prayer composed by Masaaki Okada.By practicing and promoting these three principles not only domestically but through affiliated organizations in 13 countries around the world—with the African continent and South America at the forefront—the Church aims to contribute to resolving global environmental and climate issues, food security issues, and the problem of conflict, as well as improving food self-sufficiency rates and quality of life (QOL).
